Possible Topics
 | Option 1: Success Factors in Your Field
Your first task will be to decide how you want to approach this topic,
since it can be interpreted in a number of ways (none of which is more
"right" than any of the others). You may choose to focus:
 | on one particular success factor in your field: effective conflict
resolution, organization, time management, learning how to be a good
listener, stress management, dealing with issues of diversity in the
workplace;
|
 | on coming up with a creative description of what success means in your
field: how it is achieved, how it's maintained;
|
 | on discussing several interrelated success factors in your field.
|
|
 | Option 2: Introduce Your Field
In this topic you will be giving someone considering going into your
field a brief overview of the duties, opportunities, challenges, and trends
associated with that field. Your report will need to provide all
the following information:
 | A description of the kind work people in this field can expect to do.
|
 | The training and personal and professional skills required in this
field.
|
 | The outlook for this field, including
 | predicted number of openings |
 | salary range |
 | benefits
|
|
 | The challenges of this field.
|
 | The advantages and satisfactions of this field. |
|
Research
 | You can use a variety of sources for your research: your teachers,
books/periodicals/videotapes from the library, interviews, the internet.
|
 | Please note that you will be documenting these sources using the MLA
format discussed in your textbook.
|
 | Your written report will need to have a Works Cited page with at least
four sources. |
